As a music entrepreneur you have limited resources in both time and money to put towards building your business. You need to ensure you are using those resources as effectively as possible to maximize the engagement of your music, and to work efficiently towards creating significant profits. With this goal in mind you would benefit substantially by receiving guidance on the best courses of action for the advancement of your career and expansion of your business informed by extensive and ongoing success.
With over 20 years of experience in the music business, I work with both established artists and newer success stories who are just laying a foundation for their longevity. I have been fortunate enough to play a key role in the business development of some extremely successful independent artists, and have gained extensive business development knowledge in the process.
I’ve come across many of the opportunities and challenges that you will encounter as you are working to further your business development, and has a result have learned how to recognize key opportunities and minimize or completely avoid many of the obstacles that stand in your path to success. With that experience, I'm able to offer you guidance that will allow you to accelerate and streamline your business development.
The first step of the guidance I am offering you is for us to do a thorough assessment of what you have done to develop your career so far, your resources, your goals, and the effectiveness of how you present yourself publicly (with both industry people and potential listening audience in mind). Upon completion of that assessment we will conduct a “strategy session” to provide you with customized guidance recommending areas that should be priorities for you to focus on to maximize your business development potential. Utilizing my knowledge and objective perspective we will identify both strengths to build on as well as areas that need work, and ultimately will put together the most efficient possible plan to help you achieve your goals using the resources available to you.
Upon receipt of payment I will send you an extensive questionnaire that you can answer as much of as you would like; knowing that the more details you provide me with the better guidance I will be able to provide you. Once I receive your answers to that questionnaire I will carefully consider your responses and put together recommendations for you, within two weeks of my receipt of your answers. At your request I can also provide an assessment of your latest release, your online presence (website, social networking sites, videos, etc), as well as any other promotional materials you would like me to have a look at.
Once I have put together my recommendations we will schedule an intensive ~2 hour “strategy session” conference call or meeting (in North Vancouver) to discuss my recommendations and to give you the opportunity to get answers to any questions you may have. When we complete this process you should have a firm understanding of how effective the initiatives you have been taking to develop your career have been, as well what you should concentrate on moving forward to maximize your potential success both in the short and long term.
You are welcome to involve as many people as you want in our strategy session, but please understand that the assessment I do on your behalf will only be focused on a single artist or group’s career development. I encourage you to involve collaborators, support team members, or other artists that you work with in our strategy session, but I will only be able to spend time on their careers outside of our strategy session if I am receiving additional compensation for the extra time I spend on their behalf.
Upon completion of the career development assessment outlined above there is potential for us to develop the foundation we have laid with this assessment into a more hands-on working relationship with me providing you with additional guidance on an ongoing basis. As our working relationship and your level of tangible success grow there is also potential for my colleagues and I to assist you with building and monetizing audiences with direct-to-fan-focused strategies, writing grant applications on your behalf, helping build your team, securing performance opportunities, and so on.
Payment:
Like any other industry professional you would hire to spend time on your behalf, I need to be compensated for the time I spend on behalf of my clients. I charge a fee of $500 for this career development assessment, $250 of which is payable upfront prior to our starting the assessment process and $250 of which is payable before I review your responses to the career assessment questionnaire I’ll send you when we start working together. I also offer business development guidance at a rate of $250 per hour, but offer this program at a substantially discounted rate (based on the amount of time I spend on it) as I would greatly prefer to start all working relationships with this program.
